Electric and magnetic fields

On every experiment there is an indication of which grade we have deemed it suitable for. However, this is always subject to the teacher's discretion. We encourage you to look both above and below your classrooms grade level.

Electromagnetism

Oersted´s experiment (137110-EN)
Examining the magnetic field around a current-carrying wire. The observations are compared to an easy to remember rule of thumb. Grade: 8-9(10)

Magnetic force on a conductor (137230-EN)
Examining the force on a current carrying conductor in a magnetic field, thus confirming the theoretical expression for the force (Laplace’s force, Lorentz force). Grade: 9-10+

Laplace's force law (137240-EN)
To further examine the force on a current carrying conductor in a magnetic field, including the angle dependency. Grade: 12+

Induction

The transformer (137710-EN)
Examining a transformer built from individual coils and a UI core, and comparing to the theory for the ideal transformer. Grade: 9-10
